Baptism

Did you learn anything new about Baptism this past Sunday?

How was your experience of touching the water and making a cross on your forehead?

If you have not been baptized already, what keeps you from "taking the plunge"? (pun intended)

It was great to see so many people getting up and participating during the service. Matt has a great way of teaching and connecting with people during his sermons. I felt like I really did learn more about the differnt layers of meaning of baptism.

I thought it was a good service also and I think it is neat to "rememeber our baptism" as we are encouraged in the Bible. I like responsive activities. Thank you for the opportunity. I wish those who have not been baptized would have taken the neat opporunity they were given during the 9:30 service. On another note, I thought it very strange to say that baptism/death to self isn't "sexy". What's the connection there? I think that was a strange cultural tie in - not needed or appropriate. I can see saying it doesn't seem relevant in our cultural or it's counter cultural, etc. I think that's perhaps what Matt meant. I just don't think sexiness or sexuality is a concept that should ever be in context with the concept of baptism.

I think the comment "sexy" could just as easily be "glamorous" or "stylish". It's not necessarily a comment on sexuality - just one on whether or not it's a concept that will catch on like wildfire.

I enjoy participating in worship. Getting up and touching the water was a simple, effective way of helping me to participate.
