I like the relaxed atmosphere and the fact that it's not stuffy or formal. I feel like I can just be myself. I also like that the lyrics to the songs are in layman's terms so that I can understand what I'm singing and also that the sermon's are spoken on a level where everyone can relate (adults and teenagers alike) - I like the use of analogies. I think the service has a good balance between praise music and quiet moments of reflection and prayer.
I grew up in a Traditional Methodist Worship service. The congregation was allowed to particaipate in the songs excluding the Offertory, which usually was the Anthem @ the same time. I feel that our Traditional services do not offer that option @ CLUMC. They appear to me to be into classical & entertainment & productions.
Our Contemporary Services allow me to particiapate in Worshipping GOD by allowing me to sing in all of the songs excluding the Offertory.
The Contemporary services allow me to PRAISE GOD, like the Traditional services did as I grew up!
Welcome to the Clear Lake United Methodist Church worship blog. This is a place where we can continue the discussions we began in Sunday morning worship. Ask or say anything - you may even choose to post anonymously. Feel free to disagree and to offer your own insights - this will help discussion! Difficult questions, theological or practical are welcome. I hope this blog is a helpful tool for deepening your faith.
Instructions for Getting Started
"Blogging" may be new to some of us. Have no fear! You won't mess anything up or hurt yourself by giving it a try.
A "blog" (short for "web log") consists of several articles or questions (called "posts") that are written by the blog administrator and the comments of anyone and everyone else. In this blog, each post has a bold blue title and is located on the left side of the page. You can read the post right there on the homepage.
To read the comments other people have made about that post, click on the word "comments" at the bottom right of each post.
After you read the comments, you can add your own comment by typing in the "Leave Your Comment" box on the right side of the page.
There is no need to create a user name and password. Instead, just click the bullet that says "Other" and write your name. (If you wish to remain anonymous, then click the bullet that says "Anonymous"). When you you have finished writing your comment, click "Publish Your Comment."
You're finished! Your comment will find its way to the Blog's main page shortly.
Repeat these steps for as many comments as you'd like to make. Happy blogging!

I enjoy Praising GOD in through music.
